For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

It has been said before—we don’t judge the Bible; the Bible judges us. As we approach Scripture with a holy reverence the Holy Spirit makes us aware of the areas where we don’t measure up, and then He takes us to the power of the cross. Jesus loves us so much that He didn’t leave us to our own understanding; He has given us His word as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path and He has sent the Holy Spirit to make His words come alive.
