JOHN 15:14
REMEMBER HIM
At first it might seem a little odd to consecrate creativity to the Lord. But from the very beginning of our business with Thom;s work, we believed that every article that came from Thom’s hand should be prayed over and given over to the Lord. Thom;s artistic ability to capture scenes of peace and serenity did not originate from him, though to the world they may seem novel ideas. In reality, each piece is inspired ny the light and love Thom has come to know from the Lord. It overflows onto the canvas and creates beautiful pictures of a hope that, without Christ we would never have.
God paints the same lesson in every area of life for us. Though we may think we have control over our success–that if we work hard enough we van secure our faith and our future–the fact is, “the branch cannot bear fruit of itself.” Or as Psalm 127:1 puts it, “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.” To produce works of any eternal significance is entirely dependent on an eternal God empowering our efforts. Apart from Him, we can do nothing.
The implications are enormous in the way we approach our work. We arrive but only in His strength. We prepare, but only after committing it to prayer. And we act, but we move forward in the kn knowledge that he directs our paths, and He alone can produce the fruit.
Father,
How humbling it is to realize that even my best efforts are worthless if they do not originate from You. Forgive me for the arrogance that has made me ever think otherwise. I surrender myself to You, and ask that You will fill me, feed, me, and lead me, and produce in me the beautiful word of righteousness that truly touches the heart of eternity.
